Liberal Wrestling Club’s Holcomb Takes First In Amarillo

The Wesley Invitational was held in Amarillo, Texas on Saturday, January 13. Liberal Wrestling Club took ten wrestlers to this tournament. Competition was rough but these young wrestlers worked very hard throughout the day.

Ian Holcomb took first place, pinning both of his opponents with a cradle. Other wrestlers placed as follows:

Elias Holcomb (D3) – 3rd
Kaysen Del Real (D3) – 5th
Landon Castilleja (D4) – 3rd
Iovani Chavez (D4) – 4th; exhibition bracket (D5) – 3rd
Chevy-Lee Allen (D4) – 3rd
Esteban Gomez (D4) – 3rd

Also attending this tournament were Lorelai McKim, Imauri Eikenberry and Jonathan Del
Real.

The team also had the opportunity to attend a hockey game to cheer on the Amarillo
Wranglers for their youth sports night.
“Our kids worked really hard at the tournament and it was a lot of fun to unwind and watch another sport that these kids usually don’t get to attend live,” Coach Krista Holcomb said.

Liberal Wrestling Club will be taking wrestlers to Cimarron on Saturday, January 20.
