Liberal Wins Volleyball Tournament

The Liberal volleyball team won their tournament in the Big House on Saturday.  LHS went 4-1 on the day despite being shorthanded without their top hitter Machia Mullens due to injury.  Liberal won the championship over Meade 2-1.  That’s after Meade opened the day with a win over the Redskins.  LHS defeated Wichita Southeast and Colby to advance out of pool play as the number two seed in the red bracket.  LHS defeated Pratt in the semifinal while Meade knocked off Hugoton.  Hugoton defeated Pratt for third.  Liberal’s Whitney Hay made the all tournament team.  LHS is 10-10 and has some time off before returning to the court September 26 at Dodge City against Dodge and Garden City.
