Liberal High School Welcomes Trevor Powers as New Head Football Coach

Liberal High School is pleased to announce the hiring of Trevor Powers as the new head football coach. Coach Powers joins LHS from Hooker, Oklahoma, where he built a highly successful football program and cultivated a culture of discipline, teamwork, and student-athlete development.

With an impressive coaching record of 80-23 over eight seasons, including a 16-7 playoff record, Coach Powers has demonstrated success in leading competitive programs. His teams have earned multiple district titles and made deep playoff runs, including back-to-back state runner-up finishes in 2023 and 2024. His focus on fostering teamwork, accountability, and skill development will be instrumental in shaping the future of Redskin football.

“We are excited to welcome Coach Powers to Liberal High School,” said Kerri Miles, LHS Athletic Director. “His leadership and commitment to developing student-athletes will be a great addition to our program. His experience in building successful teams will help our football program continue to grow and improve.”

Coach Powers, along with his wife Shayla and their four children, is eager to become part of the Liberal community. He is committed to building a strong football culture that emphasizes hard work, character, and teamwork.

To welcome Coach Powers, a meeting for players will be held on Friday at 6:00 PM in the LHS Gym, followed by a parent meeting at 6:30 PM. This will be an opportunity to meet Coach Powers, hear about his vision for the program, and ask any questions.
