Liberal Softball Hands Scott City their 1st Loss

The Liberal softball team traveled to Scott City on Thursday and split a highly competitive double header. Scott City won 8-7 and Liberal won 7-6 in 10 innings.
In game one, the Beavers scored two in the first and the Redskins scored four in the second. Scott scored three in the bottom of the second to lead 5-4. Scott City scored a run in the third to lead 6-4. LHS scored two in the fourth to tie it at 6-6. Liberal grabbed a 7-6 lead with a fifth inning run. Scott City scored two in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead and then would win 8-7. Maedeen McClure and Jaciana Rivera were 3-4. Zoey Torres, Amya Blake, and Taylor Harding had two hits a piece. McClure drove home three runs.
Liberal won a wild one in game two. Scott scored two in the first before LHS answered with two third inning runs. Scott City scored one in the bottom of the third and three in the fourth to lead 6-2. Liberal tied it 6-6 with one in the fifth and three in the sixth. No one scored again until the tenth when Liberal scored one. Liberal out-hit Scott City 14-9. Amya Blake and Maedeen McClure had three hits a piece. Jaciana Rivera and Lexi Miller had two hits a piece. Blake drove home three runs.
Liberal is 8-5 overall and hosts Great Bend Friday at 4pm for a double header at the National Beef Sports Complex. Scott City is 15-1.
