On September 7, 2009, at about 2:30 p.m., the Liberal Police Department Special Response Team (SRT) served a search warrant at a residence in the 100 block of West Pine. The search was conducted in the furtherance of a narcotics investigation. Upon searching the premises, officers located numerous suspected marijuana plants, equipment for growing marijuana and two pit bulls.

A citizen reported that marijuana was being grown at the residence. Investigating officers went to the residence and observed signs that marijuana was being grown and applied for a search warrant.

A 41 year old male was arrested and is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell within 1000 feet of a school, unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and harboring pit bulls. An affidavit has been forwarded to the County Attorney for filing formal charges.
