A 35-year-old Liberal man was killed early Sunday when the Nissan minivan he was driving crashed into a railroad embankment.

The Kansas Highway Patrol identified the victim as David Andrew Selby.

Selby was eastbound on U.S. 54 near Western Avenue shortly after 2:38 a.m. when his vehicle crossed the road, went into the opposite ditch and hit the railroad embankment running parallel to U.S. 54. Selby, who was alone in the vehicle, was not wearing a seat belt, according to the patrol.
