Liberal Competes at Pre State Meet in Wichita

Here are the results from the WSU meet from Thursday and Friday. On the
boys side we finally got to see Syris Dunlap run the 100 and 200 meters.
Since he plays baseball I think it shows a lot of toughness and grit to
still be competitive in the sprints at a 6A level after taking a year off
from track just to focus on baseball. He did very well and is a front
runner to win the 100 and 200 meters in the WAC if he so chooses to. Malcom
Wiltshire tried the Pentathlon on Thursday and placed 3rd in classes 1-6A.
This can easily be a college event for him if he chooses to pursue it into
the future. Boys 4×4 and 4×8 both have a chance to qualify for state even
at the 6A level but have a lot of work left to do if they want to be
successful there. On the girls side they placed 3rd in the shuttle relay.
This is the first time I can ever remember us doing this event. Machia
Mullens also placed first in 4-6A long jump. As a whole, many PR’s were
made and I’m pleased with our progress so far, however, if our kids want to
qualify for state at the 6A level we have a lot of work left to do!
