The Liberal City Commission met Tuesday night for their regularly scheduled meeting The meeting took place at 6:30pm in the City Commission Chambers. At the start of the meeting two proclamation were read proclaiming Constitution Week and Think Pink Week. Stan Wilbers, from the Focus on the Future Committee updated the Commission on the efforts of the 1 cent sales tax renewal campaign. The commission approved Overland Property Group to apply for tax credits from the state to build another 16 unit aprtment complex on East Curtis Street. Three properties were condemed at the meeting, one at 520 W. Third, one at 718 S. Seward, and one at 620 N. Oklahoma. Several vehicle abatements were also approved. The City Commission approved the purchase of a pick up for the Parks Department from Foss Ford of Liberal in the amount of $18,500.00, and three fleet line cars for the Police Department, also from Foss Ford, for $69,387.00. Also approved for the Police Department was the equipment to outfit the cars in the amount of $27,384.00. The City Commission approved intersection improvements at Centennial and Kansas Ave., and appointed Nick Schwindt to the Planning and Zoning Board. The next regular meeting of the Liberal City Commission is scheduled for September 28th.
