Liberal City Commission Approves Changes to Downtown Business District

The Liberal City Commission met on Tuesday evening at 5:30 pm at the Blue Bonnett Building and adopted Ordinance 4581 will amend section 3-108 of the city code to establish a ·’ core commercial district” making it easier for the development of new businesses in the downtown area and repairing existing businesses which are outside of the current regulations and also approved Ordinance 4582 which amends the zoning portion to rename the C-3 Central Business district as the Core Commercial District. It will also add uses to the commercial zones and most industrial zones to allow restaurants and microbreweries.
Commissioners approved a change to the fee for platting which will lower the cost to developers which will encourage future developments and appointed Ernesto Goitia, Jr. to the Planning and Zoning Board.
The Commission tabled the repairs to the hydraulic pump on the Street Departments Front End Loader, and approved the quote for the Statement of Work from Municode Powered by CivicPlus for recodification services for the City of Liberal Code Book in the amount of $11,950.02 to be funded with ARPA funds.
Approved at the meeting was CivicPlus for the CivicClerk agenda software and approved the Tyler Technologies annual fees which provide the software Incode, which is the Municipal Court software.
The City Commission gave Municipal Court the approval to move forward with the Municipal Court Room remodel in the amount of $91,649.22 to be funded from the remodeling funds balance in the amount of $28,932.22 and the remaining balance of $62,717.00 to be fonded from the Municipal Court Diversion account.
