LHS Softball Sweeps Dodge City to End Regular Season

The Liberal High School softball team finished their season on a high taking two games at Dodge City Thursday at Legends Park.  The Redskins won 11-0 and and 8-3 to sweep the three game series with DCHS.

In game one, LHS scored in every inning plating one in the first, two in the second, one in the third, four in the fourth, and three in the fifth.  Liberal out-hit Dodge 12-2.  Jenna Ormiston pitched all five innings of the shutout allowing two hits with five strikeouts and no walks.  Maedeen McClure, Taylor Harding, Jenna Ormiston, and Marypher Lopez had two hits a piece.  Lopez had a triple.   Zoey Torres had three RBI’s.

In game two, the Redskins scored three in the third and three in the sixth.  LHS plated two in the seventh before DCHS scored two in the bottom of the seventh.  Liberal out-hit Dodge City 11-8.  Liberal had three errors and DCHS had two.  Zoey Torres pitched six innings allowing one earned run.  Taylor Harding, Zoey Torres, Lizzy Mannel, and Marypher Lopez had two hits a piece.  Lopez and Ormiston had two RBI’s a piece.

Dodge City is 3-17 and 0-12 in the WAC.  Liberal is 6-14 overall and 3-9 in the WAC.  Regionals is next week.
