LHS Picks Oropeza to Lead Cheer Program

LIBERAL, Kan. – Liberal High School is pleased to announce the hiring of Ashley Oropeza as
the next head cheer coach starting the 2023-2024 season.

“We are very excited to have Coach Oropeza at the helm of the cheerleading program. She has
the experience and motivation to make the team a top cheer program in the state,” said Liberal
High School Assistant Activities Director, Monica Vega.

Oropeza is not new to the LHS as she served the cheer squad as an assistant coach during the
2022-2023 season. She was also a LHS cheerleader graduating in the class of 2016 and a
member of the Seward County Community College cheer squad.

Oropeza plans to implement strong season goals. These goals include more All-American
nominations, a strong showing at the KSHSAA Spirit Showcase, and providing the pathway to
collegiate cheerleading.

“I’m super excited to lead the girls this year as their head coach! We had a great season this past
year, and I’m hoping to have an even better one this upcoming year. I have so many plans to
bring back old traditions as well as competing at State. I’m grateful to have the opportunity to get
to know the girls even better and help them advance in their athletic careers,” said Coach
Oropeza.
