The Lady Redskin Varsity Tennis Team completed its season at the Regional Tennis Tournament at the Coleman Tennis Complex of Wichita State University on Saturday.
The girls displayed fundamentally-sound formations and strategies, but fell short of qualifying for State. Admiring fans commented on the team’s attitude and sportsmanship
as our girls competed hard to the end.
Individual Results:
Kathy Nguyen finished her career at LHS losing 6-0,6-0 to Klaasen of Ark City.
Madison Martinez gained valuable experience while losing to the #3 seed Lubbers from Bishop Carrol 6-0,6-0.
The doubles team of Shelby Hay and Melissa Alvarado started strong and won two early games on the team of Jackson and Gonzales from Ark City. But, the experience of Ark City’s team took over as the Lady Skins fell 6-2, 6-0 to end their season.
The newly-created doubles team of Lauren Harp and Maddie Rees fell 6-0, 6-0 to Winfield’s team of Lindy and Smith, but they showed glimpses of excellence and gained insight to the dominant play of eastern teams. Next year, they will have an awareness of what they need to improve on to compete at the State level.
