LHS Freshman Forge Ahead in Guymon

After blowout losses to Great Bend Friday, Liberal’s baseball team bounced back Monday in Guymon. The Redskins beat the Tigers at Guymon’s Asa Howard Field 6-3. The Redskins are 4-5.
The Skins scored six runs of nine hits and three errors while the Tigers had three runs, five hits, and five errors. LHS scored two in the first and the Tigers scored one. GHS tied the game a 2-2 with a run in the third. LHS scored one in the fifth and three in the sixth to take a 6-2 lead into the bottom of the sixth.
Freshman right hander Stevie Lira pitched six strong innings for the win allowing four hits and one earned run. He struck out five and walked two. Freshman right hander Jared Hasik pitched one scoreless inning for the save. Hasik was 3-4 with three runs while fellow classmate Tim Fitzgerald had a double and a run. Christian Hernandez was 2-4 with a triple.
The Redskins play at 12-11 Woodward today at 4. The Boomers beat Liberal 7-4 when they played in Liberal March 16.
