LHS Defense Falters as Hugoton Takes Two

Liberal’s softball team lost a game they led 7-3 and then lost a three inning game Thursday in Liberal. Hugoton’s softball girls came to town and beat LHS 11-7 and 19-2 Thursday afternoon at the National Beef Family Sports Complex. LHS is 2-2.

In game one Liberal led 7-3 until Hugoton scored four in the sixth and four in the seventh. LHS had four errors. Sandra Armendariz ripped a two RBI triple in the second to give LHS a 6-3 lead. Liberal had three in the first and the second and Hugoton scored three in the second. The 6-3 score stood until LHS added a run in the fifth to lead 7-3. Hugoton then exploded for four in the sixth and four in the seventh.

In game two, the Eagles scored one in the first, eight in the second, and 10 in the third. LHS had nine errors in the loss.

LHS is 2-2 and plays at Scott City Friday, April 8.
