Sublette native Shalee Lehning returned to the area recently. The third year K-State assistant coach finished her third year with the Atlanta Dream. Due to a knee injury and complications to the knee after the ACL injury, Lehning has retired from the WNBA at the age of 25. She is continuing rehabilitation on the knee.

She was in Liberal Monday tracking the progress of K-State signee Ashlynn Knoll of Seward County.

Lehning led Sublette to state basketball championships in 2004 and 2005. Lehning is second all time in assists in the Big 12. She had her number five retired at KSU.

The Wildcat women are 7-4 in the Big 12 this season and play at Oklahoma Wednesday night.
