Coach Tom McClure’s Comments
“It is a tough way to end the season that way, but we drew a tough group. Lawrence Free State had bodies where we hope to be in future as a program. We know that in the offseason and summer we have to put in the work and improve and not come out next year and expect it to just happen. The girls worked as a unit, did not get down as much and responded better in the end of the season. We just faced a tough team a few years removed from a state title that has a wealth of softball resources in their backyard. We will lose 4 seniors, but will have a great core coming back next year. Our statistics improved, attitudes improved, and more importantly chemistry improved. With a chunk of the youth getting reps, we should continue to climb and be a solid squad in the next few years.”
