The Seward Lady Saints went 2-0 in Louisiana on Friday and Saturday. The Lady Saints dominated the number 14 South Plains Lady Texans 76-56 Saturday afternoon in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The “Gals in Green” came out ready to play and jumped to a 6-0 lead. Seward led 14-6 with 4:06 to play in the first quarter. Seward led 22-7 with 1:10 to play in the first quarter. Seward led 24-7 after one quarter. The Lady Saints led 35-18 with 5:01 remaining in the first half. South Plains made a late half push but SCCC led 39-29 at halftime of this New Year’s Day game. Seward led 50-41 with 3:12 to play in the third quarter. SCCC led SPC 55-45 after three. Seward’s lead ballooned to 63-50 with 5:36 to play. They would add to that lead to improve to 10-5 . Sydney Wetlaufer scored 16 to lead Seward. Halima Salat had 12. Hulda Joaquim had 11 points and seven rebounds. Zhane Thompson had 10 points. The Lady Saints return to Jayhawk Conference play Wednesday night at 5:30 in Great Bend against Barton. The game will air on B107.5 and the KSCB and The Legend App. Saints Shoot-around at 5:15.
