Lady Saints Start Strongly in Win Over Colby

It looked like the Seward Lady Saints may have had their legs back on Saturday night in the Green House. Seward bolted out of the locker room to take an 18 point first quarter lead and never looked back in beating Colby for a 30th straight time 89-61. The only question was whether they would make 15 three pointers to give someone the chance to win a 100 dollar gift certificate from Billy’s Ayr Lanes. They came close, making 14 three pointers.
Seward jumped out to leads of 18-4 and 24-6 before leading 30-15 after one. Seward led 47-33 at the half. Seward led by as many as 27 on the way to the win.
Another double double for Sierra Morrow who had 26 points and 11 rebounds. Sydney Wetlaufer scored 17 with five rebounds. Zhane Thompson had 12.
Seward shot 40 percent while making 14-40 from three point range and 19-25 at the foul line. Colby shot 28 percent and was 0-6 from 3 and 21-36 at the foul line.
Seward is 15-5 and Colby is 4-14 overall and 3-14 in the Jayhawk West. The Lady Saints would secure what could be two home playoff games with a win over Pratt Wednesday night at 6 in the Green House for Sophomore Recognition Night. 5:45 Saints Shoot-around on 1270 and kscbnews.net.
