Playing for the first time in nine days, the Seward Lady Saints beat the Pratt Lady Beaver 73-49 Monday night in Pratt’s Beaver Dome.  Seward hadn’t played since January 8 when they defeated Hutchinson.  Health and safety protocols halted their scheduled game January 12 at Coffeyville.

The game was tight in the first quarter as Seward grabbed an 18-15 lead after one.  Seward clamped down on Pratt in the second quarter 17-5.  It was 35-20 SCCC at the half.  Seward also dominated the third quarter 22-7 and led 57-27 after three quarters.  Seward’s Sanaa Smith injured her back on a controversial play.  Seward’s bench reacted as they saw that a Pratt player kicked Smith while she was down.  Coach Todd Ciochetto was issued a technical after the injury.  Seward led by as many as 32 at 59-27 and won 73-49.

Seward shot 45 percent and held Pratt to 29 percent from the field.  Seward out rebounded Pratt 35-30.  Halima Salat led the Lady Saints with 18 points and made 6-16 three pointers.  Sierra Lynch had 14 points and eight assists.  Zhane Thompson added 10.

Seward wins their 57th in the past 58 meeting against Pratt.  Seward is 12-6 overall and 8-4 in the Jayhawk while Pratt is 2-13 overall and 1-10 in the KJCCC.  Seward hosts Butler Wednesday night at 6 with Saints Shoot-around at 5:45 on 107.5 and the KSCB and The Legend App.  Bank of Beaver City is the game sponsor.
