Lady Saints Rally Past Barton

Trailing 16-4 after one quarter and 38-27 in the third quarter, the Seward Lady Saints rallied for a big win at Barton 65-57 Wednesday night at the Kirkman Center in Great Bend.  It’s the first win for the Lady Saints at Barton since 2020 breaking a four game losing streak at Kirkman.

Barton jumped all over the Lady Saints early leading 16-4 after one quarter and leading 21-4 in the second quarter.  Seward used their press to close out the second half on a 19-7 run as Barton led 28-23 at the half.  Barton took the 38-27 lead in the third quarter before the Lady Saints made their run.  The Lady Saints used a 15-1 run to lead 42-39 after three quarters.  Seward out scored the Lady Cougars 23-18 in the fourth quarter and led 61-49 before winning by eight.

The Lady Saints forced 23 Barton turnovers and led points off turnovers 26-13.  SCCC led points in the paint 40-30.  Seward shot 36 percent and made 4-18 from three point range.  Seward was 7-10 at the foul line.  Barton shot 43 percent but shot 20 less times than Seward.  Barton was 3-8 from three and 10-20 from the foul line.

Ari Gordon was Epic Touch Player of the Game with 15 points, six rebounds, seven assists, and five steals.  Allie Myers had 11 points and seven rebounds.  Avery Marchino added 11.

Barton is 12-13 overall and 8-11 in the Jayhawk.  Seward is 16-8 overall and 11-7 in the Jayhawk.  Seward plays at Fort Hays Tech Saturday night at 6:30 central time in Goodland with 6:15 Saints Shoot-around on 107.5.
