The 8th ranked Seward Lady Saints brought their defense to their opener Saturday in Liberal. Seward beat Hesston 84-45 Saturday in a rare afternoon game in the Green House. Seward forced 35 Hesston turnovers in the win. They held Hesston to 17 first half points. Seward led 20-6 after one quarter and 39-17 at halftime. Mollie Mounsey led the Lady Saints with 15 points while Vanessa Caro had 12 and Lexi Hernandez had 11. Silvia Veloso pulled down nine rebounds.
