The Lady Saints shot 47 percent from in the field in their best offensive performance in weeks in their 72-57 win over Colby Monday night in the Colby Community Building. Seward held Colby to four first half field goals. Seward jumped to a 20-4 advantage before Colby made it 20-15. The Lady Saints used a 15-0 run into the locker room to lead 35-15 at the half. They led by as many as 21 (63-42) in rout to the win. Ashlyn Knoll scored a career high 27 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Hannah Rotolo added 11 points and dished 12 assists. Seward head coach Toby Wynn says it’s about shot selection. "We got easier shots tonight," Wynn said after Seward’s 10th straight win over Colby. "I thought we did a better job of moving the basketball and making maybe one or two extra passes and getting the ball to people in positions where they can be more effective. That improves your shooting percentage when that happens. Our defense created some offensive opportunities for us early as well and that helps give you opportunities early in the game."
Seward is 16-9 overall and 6-5 in the Jayhawk West. Colby falls to 8-17 overall and 3-8 in the conference. Seward plays at Pratt Wednesday night at 6 p.m. on B107.5 and kscbnews.net.
