Lady Redskins Take WAC Lead in Dominant Outing

Liberal’s Lady Redskins are all alone in first place in the Western Athletic Conference. The Lady Red dominated Great Bend 53-24 Saturday night on homecoming in the Big House. Great Bend loses at Liberal one night after a home loss to Dodge City giving the Lady Skins the WAC lead.
Liberal led throughout leading 13-7 after a quarter, 22-15 at halftime, 34-22 after three, and outscoring Great Bend 19-2 in the fourth quarter for the win.
Jada Mickens won homecoming queen Saturday night and won most battles on the glass. Mickens had 13 points and 13 rebounds. Reyna Gonzalez scored nine while Machia Mullens and Katie Horyna scored eight a piece. Audrey Gilmore added seven.
The Lady Redskins are 14-4 overall and lead the WAC at 5-1. Great Bend falls into second at 5-2 in the WAC and 11-8 overall.
As for homecoming, Mickens was homecoming queen and John Francis was named king. The other queen candidates were Amira Coleman, Leslie Laguna, and Jazmine Mendoza. The king candidates were Kylan Thomas, Kaiden Bigham, and Joel Berumen. The crown bearer was Logan Brock and the flower girl Avril Maldonado.
Liberal plays at Garden City Tuesday night at 6 with Redskin Pre-game at 5:45 on 1270 and kscbnews.net.
