Fou Liberal forwards and posts scored in double digits as Liberal’s post play stood out in a 63-47 win over the Bonner Springs Lady Braves Friday night in Tonganoxie.  Liberal is 1-1 at the 67th Tonganoxie Invitational.

The Lady Redskins led 15-11 after one quarter in what was a physical game.  LHS led 27-16 before leading 27-19 at the half.  Bonner Springs made a run early in the second half as foul trouble began to mount.  The Lady Braves trimmed the Lady Red lead to 31-28 before LHS led 38-30 and 41-33.  Zoey Torres bombed a deep three at the buzzer of the end of the third quarter for a 44-37 lead after three.  Liberal controlled the fourth quarter 19-10.

Shamari Lewis was Epic Touch Player of the Game with 20 points.  Maliyah Mullens added 12.  Kamilah Delgado and Zoey Torres scored 10 a piece.  Kylie Rhine added eight.

Both teams committed 16 turnovers.  Liberal was 2-13 from three but 14-16 at the free throw line.  Bonner Springs was 5-15 from three and 6-11 at the charity stripe.

Bonner Springs is 2-6 and Liberal is 7-5.  Liberal plays the host Tonganoxie Chieftains in Chieftain Arena Saturday morning at 10am with 9:45 Redskin Pre-game on 1270 and 92.3.
