After trailing 0-2 at halftime, the Lady Red made a second-half comeback to claim a thrilling victory over Wichita Classical.
The momentum shifted in the second half when Lily Guy capitalized on a rebound following a powerful outside shot from Lily Santiago, putting the Lady Red on the scoreboard. Moments later, Yuly Molina found Guy with a perfectly timed pass to even the score.
Guy continued her standout performance by intercepting a poorly taken goal kick from Classical and finishing it to give the Lady Red their first lead of the match. Not long after, Evelin Tarango dished out an assist to Guy, to complete her second “haul” (4 goals in one game) of the season.
Ana Vela sealed the game with an unassisted strike from outside the box, after a ball came loose from a Lady Red possession capping off a dominant and one sided second half for the Lady Red ending 5-2.
Overall record is now 4-1.
The Lady Red will be back in action on Tuesday, April 8, when they travel to take on Great Bend for the first conference game of the season.
They will host Hays on Thursday, April 10. JV game kicks off at 5pm and the varsity will follow at approximately 630.
