Lady Red Defense Holds Down Hugoton

Liberal out scored Hugoton 31-2 in the second half on the way to a 55-17 win Tuesday night in the Big House.  The Lady Red used a stifling man-to-man defense in the second half to hold Hugoton to six made field goals in the game.  HHS committed 24 turnovers.

LHS led 12-6 after one and 24-15 at the half.  Liberal led 43-15 after three.  HHS finally tallied a second half basket with 3:22 to play.

Hailey Contreras scored 24 points with six assists and four steals.  She was the Epic Touch Player of the Game.  Shamari Lewis scored 18 points with eight rebounds.  Kamilah Delgado pulled down 10 rebounds.

Liberal shot 47 percent from the  field while Hugoton shot 24 percent.  Liberal was 4-14 from three while Hugoton was 1-13.  LHS was 7-10 at the foul line and Hugoton was 4-12.

Hugoton is 2-4 and plays at Scott City January 5.  Liberal is 4-2 and opens WAC play at Hays Friday night at 6pm with Redskin Pre-game at 5:45 on 1270 and 92.3.
