The Liberal Lady Redskins win the Backyard Battle for the Bell with a strong defensive effort Friday night at Dodge City Fieldhouse.  LHS forced 33 turnovers with 23 steals on the way to a 57-31 win over the Dodge City Lady Demons.  LHS is 3-1 in the WAC with the win.

LHS led 11-0 and led 13-3 after one quarter.  Liberal led 23-13 at the half.  The Lady Red out paced DCHS 23-12 in the third quarter.  LHS led 42-19 before leading 46-25 after three.

Liberal shot 36 percent from the field going 3-9 from three point range and 16-28 at the foul line for 57 percent.  Dodge City shot 32 percent while going 5-14 from three and 4-11 at the free throw line.  LHS had 14 turnovers.

Shamari Lewis was Epic Touch Player of the Game with 21 points, nine rebounds, and six steals.  Kylie Rhine scored 15.  Kamilah Delgado had six steals.

Dodge City falls to 1-8 and 0-1 in the WAC while LHS is 6-4 overall and 3-1 in the WAC.  It’s Liberal’s second straight win at Dodge City.  Liberal plays the St. James Academy Thursday at 4:30 at the Tonganoxie Invitational on 1270 and 92.3.
