The top administrator at the University of Kansas says the university will hire a new auditor to prevent future problems in its athletic department.

Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little told the state Board of Regents on Thursday that the university also has made changes in how athletic tickets are handled. She also said it’s examining the membership of the athletic department’s board of directors.

Gray-Little outlined a number of steps the university has taken to deal with a recent ticket scalping scam. An investigation by the university determined that it may have lost as much as $3 million in the scam.

Gray-Little said the university also is considering suing the alleged participants in the scalping scam.
