KDOT hosts a job fair in Dodge City Aug. 29

The Kansas Department of Transportation will host a job fair geared toward Equipment Operator and Engineering Technician positions in southwest Kansas from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29, at the KDOT subarea located at 11310 E Wyatt Earp Blvd in Dodge City.
The event will feature:
Resume assistance – Staff can review resumes and offer suggestions to attendees.
Application station—Online and paper applications will be available to fill out and submit, and staff will be ready to assist.
On-the-spot interviews – KDOT will have interview teams on-site to conduct interviews and ready to present contingent job offers to qualified candidates.
Facility and equipment tours will be available, and attendees can tour the shop and view equipment. A KDOT Equipment Operator and Engineering Technician will be available to explain the function and use of each piece of equipment.
For equipment operators, KDOT offers entry pay of $18.74 per hour for those without a commercial driver’s license and $20.13 per hour after obtaining a CDL. KDOT provides CDL training at no up-front cost. For engineering technicians, KDOT offers entry pay of $19.84. Additional benefits for all positions include first-day insurance coverage, immediate enrollment in KPERS retirement, and a work-life balance with annual and sick leave accrual starting during the first pay period.
Equipment Operators and Engineering Technicians are part of KDOT’s progression program, which allows for learning, skill advancement, and promotion opportunities.
