Kansas Wheat Crop In Good Condition

Kansas Agricultural Statistics Service has painted an upbeat picture of the winter wheat crop.

In a report Monday, 64 percent of the crop is rated in good to excellent condition with 30 percent is rated fair. Just 6 percent of the crop was rated as poor to very poor.

The assessment comes as 77 percent of the winter wheat crop has broken dormancy across the state.

KASS also reports only about 2 percent of the wheat has been lost to winter kill.
