Seward County sophomore Kaheem Ransom added to his list
of accomplishments on Tuesday, collecting his 6th career and 3rd Jayhawk
Conference Player of the Week honor of the season as announced by league
officials. Ransom became the 10th member of the esteemed 1,000 point
club at Seward County this week, scoring 59 points in three games,
leading Seward to a 3-0 record. On Tuesday against Garden City, the
sophomore guard scored 27 points and had 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4
steals to lead Seward to a victory over the Busters. On Wednesday, in a
grueling matchup against #5 Hutchinson, Ransom helped the Saints to a
win over the Dragons to clinch the Jayhawk West Conference Championship.
On Saturday in the first round of the Region VI Tournament, Ransom
scored 27 points, hitting two free throws with under 10 seconds left to
give him his 999th and 1000th career points, making him one of just 10
players in school history to accomplish the feat and just one of 2
in-state players to reach 1,000 points. On the week he averaged 19.7
points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2.3 steals per game.
