Juan Rodriguez is Mead Lumber Athlete of the Week

Liberal sophomore Juan Rodriguez is the Mead Lumber Athlete of the Week. Rodriguez won a regional long jump title at the Cornelsen Sports Complex on Friday. He will compete in four events at state in Cessna Stadium in Wichita Friday and Saturday. He won the long jump edging teammate Kyler Thompson with a jump of 22’8". He was third in the 800 at 2:03.05. He returned to the 4×400 lineup to help win gold at regionals with Edwin Sobalvarro, Dusty Torres, and Kyler Thompson. He will run with the 4×800 relay at state. Rodriguez also plays football and basketball.
