Liberal freshman baseball player Jared Hasik is the Mead Lumber Athlete of the Week. Hasik pitches, plays shortstop, and bats lead off for the 4-6 Liberal Redskins. Hasik leads the Redskins in hitting with a .464 average and an on base percentage of .579. He is batting .333 with runners in scoring position. Hasik has legged out three doubles and is 10-10 in stolen bases. On the mound, Hasik is the Redskin ace pitcher with a record of 2-1 with a 3.94 ERA and one save. Hasik has burst onto the varsity scene as a freshman playing varsity in football, basketball, and baseball. The Redskins host the Colby Eagles Friday at 4 p.m.
