Janaya Devorce and Isabela Gutierrez Make State

Liberal’s cross country boys and girls competed at their 6A regional at Hutchinson on Saturday morning. Janaya Devorce (3rd) and Isabela Gutierrez (9th) both qualify for state. Neither team made state as the Redskin boys were sixth and the girls placed fourth. Devorce and Gutierrez run at 6A state at Lawrence at 11:10 Saturday morning.
The Liberal girls missed making state by one spot with their fourth place finish. Here’s the team scores and Liberal’s results.

Janaya Devorce finished third in 20:43. Isabela Gutierrez was ninth 21:40.1. Ariana Cerda was 31st at 23:26.5 and Rubi Alvarez was 36th in 23:50. Freshman Alondra Gonzales was 39th at 24:40.9 and Jhovana Cruz was 45th at 25:16.

Liberal’s first finisher was Emir Darza at 24th in 18:04.5 and Alex Koerner was 31st in his last meet at 18:50.1. Caleb Zamora was 40th at 19:48.4. Abel Gomez was 45th at 20:25.1. Freshman Easton Martinez was 47th 21:32.8 and George Tarango was 50th at 22:42.8.
