In a game shortened due to heavy rain and hail, Hays beat Liberal 2-1 Tuesday night at Brent Gould Field.  The game was delayed in the bottom of the sixth with Liberal trailing 6-1 but with two runners on and one out.  But the game was considered an official game after the fifth when it was 2-1 Larks.

Payton Bauer pitched five innings allowing one earned run.  Hays scored two in the second.  Liberal’s second baseman missed a possible double play ball to allow a run to score.  The next Lark singled home another run.  The Bee Jays scored in the third when Dylan Paul walked.  Daniel Abiles laid down a bunt to move Paul over.  Clint Allen singled home Paul in the third to make it 2-1.  Liberal loaded the bases with one out in the fourth but didn’t score after an Abiles line drive was caught by the pitcher.

Liberal falls to 6-4 overall and 4-3 in the Jayhawk.  Hays is 8-2 and 5-1 in the Jayhawk.  Liberal and Hays are slated to play Wednesday night at 7 at Brent Gould Field.  Foss Ford is the buyout sponsor.  The game airs on 1270 and kscbnews.net with pregame at 6:45.
