Hutch Keeps Saint Bats at Bay in Sweep

The Hutchinson Blue Dragons had 10 hits and 14 hits in their two games against the Seward County Saints Saturday afternoon at Hobart-Detter Field in Hutchinson.  Seward has nine hits in both game combined as the Blue Dragons swept the Saints 5-3 and 12-1 in seven.

In game one, Hutch plated a first inning run.  The Saints responded with two in the third when Nathan Hopkins and Brooks Barber both lofted home runs down the left field line for the 2-1 lead.  Hutchinson scored two in the third to lead 3-2 after a home run with two outs.  The Dragons added two more solo home runs in the fourth to lead 5-2.  Colton Rowan and Brooks Barber doubled in the sixth to plate a run and make it 5-3  But the Saints only had one more hit in the game.  HCC out-hit SCCC  10-5.  Hutch had the game’s only three errors.  Koshiro Ohno was Epic Touch Player of the Game going 2 and 2/3 scoreless with five strikeouts and no walks.  Brooks Barber was 2-3 with a home run and an RBI double.

In game two, the Blue Dragons feasted on SCCC pitching scoring three in the first and three in the second for the  6-0 lead.  Ryan Todd laced an RBI single to left in the fourth to drive home Brooks Barber.  The Dragons added three in the fourth, one in the fiftth, and two in the sixth.  Hutch out-hit Seward 14-5.  Neither team had an error.

Hutchinson is 20-8 overall and 7-5 in the Jayhawk West.  Seward is 14-17 overall and 1-7 in the Jayhawk West.  Seward plays at Cloud Thursday at  1pm with Saints Dugout Show at 12:45 on 127o and 92.3.
