Hugoton’s Pedro Ordonez Wins Billy’s 10 Best Scholarship

Hugotons’ Pedro Ordonez is the ninth winner of the Billy’s 10 Best Scholarship.  Winners  will be announced Thursday nights between 6-7 during the On the Sidelines Show at Billy’s on 102.7 and during the Friday morning Sportsguys between 7:37-9 and 1270 and kscbnews.net. Each week a deserving senior will be announced as a winner of a 350 dollar scholarship from Billy’s and 102.7.  An overall winner will be announced in early November. Martin joins Sublette’s Quinnton Gonzalez,  Southwestern Heights Payton LaPoint, Moscow’s Bryan Garcia, Hooker’s Robby Wardlaw,  Satanta’s Noah Young, Turpin’s Dawson Batt,  Beaver’s Gunhar Martin, and Meade’s Lawson Luetters as winners of the scholarship.

Ordonez was a running back and outside linebacker for the Eagles.  He rushed for 428 yards and six touchdowns and caught seven passes for 162 yards.  He had 66 tackles including 18 for loss with five sacks.  Ordonez is also in wrestling where he took third at state, and track where he helped the 4×400 relay team take third, and powerlifting.  He is in the KU honors program with a 3.978 GPA, Kansas Scholars Curriculum, Blue Red Honor Roll, NHS, student council, FBLA, Latinos Make a Difference, school play, class officer, works at Kramer Seed Farms and Pheasant Heaven and volunteered for Project Hope.
