On September 30th, an officer of the Hugoton Police Department was sent to Westfield Apartments for a welfare check. During the attempted welfare check, the officer noticed a known individual with a local outstanding bench warrant. Once the welfare check was complete, the officer returned to the known individual, Jeremy Johnson, 41 of Hugoton, and arrested him for three outstanding bench warrants. He was taken to the Stevens County Jail.
On Friday October the 1st, Hugoton officers initiated a traffic stop on a gold Buick Lucerne in the 200 block of west 11th Street. The officers made contact with the driver, Christian Pearson, 21, of Hugoton. During the investigation of the stop, officers detected an odor of marijuana coming from the inside vehicle. Pearson was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. He was transported to the Stevens County Jail.
