Horyna Leads Liberal Past Wichita Trinity

Katie Horyna poured in 23 points as the #6 Liberal Lady Redskins clamped down on Wichita Trinity 51-36 Saturday night.  The game was played at Garden City Community College’s Conestoga Energy Arena as part of the Clarion Roundball Classic in Garden City.

The Lady Red’s defense was impressive again but the LHS offense was inconsistent in the win.  The Lady Red led 13-6 after one quarter and led 18-6 and 26-13 in the second quarter before a long cold spell.  The Lady Knights used an 11-0 run to close the Liberal lead to 26-24 in the third quarter.  LHS led 33-30 after three.  An 8-0 lead helped the Lady Redskins lead 41-30.  LHS led 47-34 and 49-36 before winning by 15.

Horyna’s 23 paced the Lady Redskins.  Machia Mullens scored 11.  Both have scored in double digits in all four games.  LHS is 4-0 and Trinity is 1-2.  Liberal plays Scott City Saturday afternoon at 2:30 with Redskin Pre-game at 2:15 on 1270 and kscbnews.net.
