A new reservoir in western Kansas is
scheduled to open for recreation this weekend.
The HorseThief Reservoir just west of Jetmore will hold an open
house Saturday and Sunday.
The lake will be open for
water recreation and swimming. Tables and fire rings also will be
available for picnics.
Park manager Josh Hobbs says boat ramps and one beach will be
open, but the camping areas are not ready.
The open house will be from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m.
to 10 p.m. Sunday. Parking permits will not be required this
weekend.
Hobbs says parking will be limited because landscaping and other
work continues. And he says trees have been planted, but shade is
scarce.
