Hooker Bulldogs Sniffing a Gold Ball

They were close.  They are close.  Hooker is looking for an elusive first football championship.  Last year, only district rival Fairview stood in their way as Hooker finished runner up in Class A going 12-3.  Hooker is loaded for bare in 2024 looking for more hardware after winning the past two track titles.

The Bulldogs have 47 out for football with 10 starters back on defense and nine starters back on offense.  Before going 12-3 last year, Hooker made a run to the quaterfinals in 2022 going 9-4 and 10-2 in 2021 and 9-4 in 2020. The Bulldogs have enjoyed success under coach Trevor Powers going 68-21 during his seven years as head coach.

The Bulldogs are big, fast, strong, and experienced.  Some of the key Bulldogs are Sr. QB Kleat Martens, Sr. FB/DE Peyton Parker, Jr. WR/ DB Keilan Robinson, Sr. OL/DL6’4″ 315 lb.  Rhett Nunley, So. RB/DB Justin Palacios (1,780 rushing yards as a freshman), Sr. WR/FS Trace Duncan, Sr. Ol/DL Cale Metcalf, Sr. WR/SS Daniel Quezada, Sr. OL/DL Alfonso Ortiz, So. OL/DL Gunnar Martens, Jr. LB/RB Aydan Woolridge, Sr DE 6’8″ Nate Hidalgo, Sr. RB/LB Landen Lee, Sr. WR/DB Tatum Trimble, and Sr. OL/DL Jonathan Cano.

The Hooker community continues to remember the life of Blake Butler.  The 16 year old died unexpectedly June 9th outside of Hooker.  The team is wearing practice uniforms with Butler’s number 10 and the name “Butler” on the back of all of their practice tops.
