The Liberal Bee Jays slugged four home runs on the way to an 11-3 win over the Denver Cougars Saturday night at Brent Gould Field.

After an Elijah Batista walk, Ben Merriman homered to left for the 2-0 lead.  Liberal scored five in the third.  Ben Merriman led off the inning with a home run to left.  Lane Snow and Miller Durham singled before Bobby Orr walked.  Julius Ramirez slugged a grand slam to center for the 9-0 lead.  The Cougars scored an unearned run in the fourth.  Matt Mendez doubled to right center to lead off the sixth.  He scored on an Elijah Batista sac fly to left to make it 10-1.  Denver scored a run in the seventh and the eighth to make it 10-3.  Julius Ramirez blasted his second homer of the night to left to make it 11-3.  Ramirez was Epic Touch Player of the Game going 2-4 with two homers and five RBI’s.

Liberal out-hit Denver 13-5.  Fidel Hatch pitched five innings and did not allow an earned run.  He allowed two hits.  Logan Wade worked a scoreless inning.  Luke Steward pitched the seventh allowing one run and Nate Blackwood pitched two innings allowing one run with two strikeouts and no walks.

Denver is 2-14 overall and 1-10 in the Rocky Mountain.  Liberal is 10-2 overall and 9-2 in the RMBL.  The same two teams play Sunday night at 7pm on 1270 and 92.3.  Bank of the Plains is the buyout sponsor.
