Homecoming Queen Leads Liberal Over Hays

Homecoming Queen Leads Liberal Over Hays Liberal head girls basketball coach Shane Stout was nervous before the game. Even though his Lady Redskins beat Hays 54-29 earlier this year in Hays he considered last night’s game to be the first against Hays because the Hays High leading scorer Raena Sander didn’t play in the first game. And it was homecoming with two of his seven frontline players involved in homecoming (Hannah Rotolo and LaTonya Gooden). After a slow start trailing 7-5 after one quarter, Liberal blew the doors off the Lady Indians 47-31. Liberal led 22-11 at the half in route to the win. The homecoming queen Hannah Rotolo scored 14. MaKayla McPhail and Kiara Cohens added eight a piece in the win. Liberal is 15-1 overall and 5-0 in the WAC. If they beat Great Bend next Saturday, they will clinch their first WAC title since 2000. Liberal goes to Woodward on Tuesday for a 6:30 tip off on Talkradio 1270 and kscb.net.
