For the second straight week and fourth time this season, Seward County sophomore lefthander Jakob Hernandez has been named the Jayhawk Conference Pitcher of the Week as announced by the league on Wednesday.

Coming off of a week in which he was named both Jayhawk Conference and NJCAA National Pitcher of the Week, Seward sophomore Jakob Hernandez was at it again on Saturday, backing up a Jayhawk Conference record 19 strikeout performance in his last start, with 17 more in a complete game 2 hitter against Rose State. Even more impressive, after recording his final 14 outs via strikeout in his last outing, Hernandez began Saturday’s outing by using the strikeout to record the first 13 outs, running his two game total to 27 consecutive outs recorded by strikeout. Hernandez currently has 99 strikeouts on the year, 26 more than any other pitcher in the NJCAA Division I ranks.

Hernandez will get the ball again on Saturday when the Saints travel to Colby for a Big Jayhawk West Conference series against the Trojans.
