Help is on the Way for BJ’s

This is a fun time to be a pitcher for the Liberal Bee Jays. With only 15 players to begin the season, pitchers are starting in the field and getting to hit. But that situation will soon change for the NBC champs. The BJ’s expect five players to join the team for Friday’s game against the Colorado Bombers. First baseman Blake Bergeron (Nicholls State), infielder Reyn Nagamine (San Diego), left handed pitcher Patrick Shreve (Nicholls State), shortstop Kelby Tomlinson (Texas Tech), and left handed pitcher Josh Smith (Wichita State).

The future BJ’s are playing in the post season. Former BJ and infielder Richard Bohlken (Lubbock Christian) is in the NAIA World Series. Left handed pitcher Jared Moore (Kansas State) and infielder-outfielder Ross Kivett (Kansas State) play in the NCAA Tournament Friday. Seward’s Jake Barrios will join the BJ’s next week after returning from the JUCO World Series in Grand Junction.

Several other BJ’s are expected soon. Infielder-right handed pitcher Cale Elam (Wichita State), outfielder Micah Green (Wichita State), right handed pitcher and returning BJ Nick Youpel (San Diego), right handed pitcher Brent Harrison (Hawaii), infielder Tyler Grimes (Wichita State), and right handed pitcher and former Saint Cameron Maldonado will join the team soon.
