Heave Before Half Helps Garden City Past Liberal

This was a tight game throughout the first half.  But a 35 foot buzzer beater at the end of the  first half and Liberal never recovered.  Garden City beat Liberal 65-52 Tuesday night in the Garden.

The Buffaloes led 14-12 after one quarter.  Garden took a 20-12 lead before the Skins trimmed that lead to 20-16.  Garden City led 25-17 but LHS clawed back to within 29-26 before Garden City’s 35 footer to beat the buzzer at the half.  The Skins got to within 36-32 early in the third quarter before GCHS went on a 17-6 run to lead 53-38.

Liberal was 1-12 from three point range and 6-15 from the foul line while Garden City was 4-16 from three and 7-11 at the foul line.  Izzy Rotolo scored a career high 19 in the loss.

Liberal loses their sixth straight and falls to 4-15 overall and 0-7 in the WAC.  Garden City is 10-10 overall and 3-5 in the WAC.  Liberal plays at Dodge City Thursday night at about 8 on 1270, 92.3, and the KSCB and The Legend App.
