The Liberal Bee Jays struggled in the first of a three game series in Haysville Friday with a 14-1 loss to the Haysville Heat.
The game began without much scoring, but Haysville then jumped out to a 6-0 lead before scoring three in the sixth inning, three in the seventh, and five in the eighth. Liberal scored their only run of the game in the 8th.
The Heat are formerly from Havasu, Arizona and are new to the Jayhawk League this summer. With the victory, Haysville improved to 7-3 overall, and 5-2 in the league. The Bee Jays dropped to 7-2 overall, and 3-2 in the league.
Both teams will square off for game two of the series Saturday at 7 p.m. The game will air on 1270 AM and right here on kscbnews.net. The Dugout Show will begin at 6:45 p.m.
Note: The Hays Larks defeated the El Dorado Broncos 11-8 Friday.
