Guymon Upends Liberal

The Guymon Tigers celebrated  a 60-49 win in front of an exuberant crowd Tuesday night in Guymon.  This was a three point game with 30 seconds left buty the Tigers made free throws down the stretch to split the season series with the Redskins.

Guymon took an early lead of 13-8 and led 15-14 after one quarter.  Liberal trailed 18-14 before taking a 24-22 lead.  The game was tied 25-25 at halftime.  The Tigers claimed leads of 32-27 and 34-29 in the third quarter but the Skins led 35-34 after three.  The Angry Red led 37-34 early in the fourth quarter.  Guymon went on a 7-1 run to lead 41-38.  Liberal tied the game 43-43 with 3:22 to play.  The Redskins led 45-44 with 2:27 to play but never led again.  The game was tied 47-47 when Guymon’s Zaid Diaz buried a right corner 3 in front of the Guymon student section for a 50-47 lead for Guymon.  The Tigers led 52-47 with 50 seconds left and Liberal cut the lead to three at 52-49 with 31 seconds left.  Guymon finished on an 8-0 run.

Guymon was 28-34 at the free throw line and Liberal was 13-23.  Liberal was 3-20 from three point range.  Brandon Coronado led Guymon with 29 points.  Brian Amador had 10.  Izzy Rotolo led Liberal with 13 while Coby Tran had 11 and Shay Kerr had 10.

Liberal and Guymon split for the third straight season.  Liberal is 4-11 and Guymon is 4-14.  Liberal plays at Hooker on Friday at about 8 on 1270, 92.3 and the KSCB and The Legend App.  Guymon plays at Hooker Tuesday.
