Liberal scored six points in the first half on the way to another humbling loss. The Guymon Tigers have now won three of their last four at home against Liberal after the Tigers took a 54-33 decision Friday night in Guymon. Liberal struggled again with ball handling committing 30 turnovers in the loss.
The Tigers led 14-4 after one quarter. It was 26-6 Guymon at halftime. The Redskins played their best basketball of the night early in the second half beginning the half on a 13-2 run to make it 28-19. But a 10-3 Tiger run gave GHS a commanding 38-22 lead after three. Liberal never came close again in the game.
Liberal was 4-21 from three and 3-3 at the foul line. Guymon was 8-18 at the free throw line and 2-13 from three point range. Guymon shot 46 percent. Guymon had 26 turnovers in the win.
Brooks Kappelmann led the Redskins with 14 points. Guymon’s Randall Coble scored 13 while Tesfaye Lira had 12 and Brian Amador added 11. Tarick Watson dropped in 10.
Liberal falls to 2-10 with a ninth straight loss and hosts Hooker Tuesday night at about 7:45 on 1270 and 92.3. Guymon is 8-9 and host Woodward Tuesday night.
