Guymon Man Arrested On Drug Charges

At approximately 1:15 p.m. on Friday, a GPD officer made a traffic stop which lead to the arrest of 29-year-old Gilbert Trujillo.
According to the officer’s report, Trujillo disobeyed a stop sign at SE 5th and South Crumley and the officer proceeded with the traffic stop.
Trujillo told the officer that he was in his mother’s car and did not have his license on him.
The officer observed Trujillo to have shaky hands and glazed over, red eyes, but was able to confirm with dispatch that Trujillo’s license was valid and wrote the citation for disobeying the stop sign.
When the officer asked to search the vehicle, Trujillo told the officer that a bottle of lorazepam was the only thing in his possession. He gave the officer permission to search the vehicle but told the officer again that there was nothing in it, according to the report.
The passenger side window of the car was down and the officer observed a small cellophane bag with a green leafy substance inside the bag lying on the ground next to the passenger door of the car.
Trujillo asked the officer if since the bag was not found in his possession, if he could still get in trouble for it. The officer explained that even though Trujillo threw the drugs out the window, the drugs were still his.
He was arrested for possession of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school.
